ZOHRAN WINS!!!

New York City is going to have a 33-year-old Ugandan-Indian DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST mayor, ZOHRAN MAMDANI!!

Last night, disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded to Zohran Mamdani in a ranked-choice Democratic primary. The next four candidates after the two are all progressives. Andrew knew he was cooked.

By March, Zohran’s campaign had reached the maximum allowed to receive public matching funds: $8 million. It was the fastest any candidate had ever gotten there, almost entirely with small donations.

Cuomo got to $8 million too. Then a super-PAC raised $20 million, $8 million of it from former mayor and billionaire Mike Bloomberg. Wall Street titan and major Trump donor Bill Ackman also chipped in a bundle, as did DoorDash, whose workers earn less than minimum wage risking their necks in NYC traffic.

Zohran had almost 50,000 volunteers. We knocked over a million doors. He went on every TV, radio show, and podcast that invited him; flooded social media, and indefatigably walked the streets talking to New Yorkers (watch the beautiful video below of his stroll from Inwood to the Staten Island ferry). He was unfailingly honest, uncynical, and open about his progressive views, including his support for Palestinian liberation, which he says is based on his belief in universal human rights.

Cuomo showered the city with slick racist disinformation and stayed out of the public eye as much as possible.

DEMOCRATS: Learn a lesson! Mamdani is the face of the party’s future. Do not undermine him.

Because if you do not embrace the young, progressive wing of the party (including AOC, who endorsed Zohran), you will grow more and more irrelevant. You will continue to bleed the support of unions and working-class voters and lose elections. Most important, you will do nothing to stop fascism from overtaking our country.

Onward to City Hall, Zohran!
